US Ambassador Julie Chung said Sri Lanka will have to face special challenges in digitalization using new technology. More attention should be paid to protecting the security of data, and the United States is working to provide the necessary technology to Sri Lanka in the process of modernising Sri Lanka’s naval and aviation sectors.

The ambassador emphasised these facts when she called on Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva at the latter’s office yesterday.

The ambassador praised the current government’s programme to expand Sri Lanka’s shipping and aviation sectors and said that American investment opportunities will be provided to Sri Lanka.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva stated that the new policies necessary for the development of Sri Lanka’s shipping and aviation sectors in a manner suitable for the future have been made under the guidance of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, and through this, the sector will be maintained without burdening the government.
