Vavuniya prison was closed until August 15 after several inmates were diagnosed with measles.

Because of the situation in Vavuniya prison, new suspects remanded by the courts are being transferred to other prisons.

Meanwhile, prison authorities said inmates will be testifying in court through Zoom technology.

All the inmates and prison guards have been given the necessary vaccines and medicines for measles, prison authorities said.
