Vehicles to assemble locally
September 07, 2021

A proposal submitted by the Industries Minister to assemble vehicles locally received the Cabinet nod yesterday.
Accordingly, the private sector will import vehicles on a knockdown condition into the country to assemble and market them.
Vehicle imports to Sri Lanka were temporarily suspended due to the foreign reserves crisis.
However, according to Cabinet sources, the foreign reserves crisis will be resolved soon, and vehicle import would also be allowed.
