Ven. Gnanasara thero released by the Colombo Chief Magistrate

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's court has ordered to release Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force for 'One Country, One Law' Ven. Galaboda Atte Gnanasara Thera from a case filed over allegedly making a defamatory statement to Islam. Chief Magistrate Buddhika C. Ragala ordered to release of Gnanasara Thera from the case following the Attorney General's decision not to proceed with a magisterial inquiry against the suspect. The Organized Crimes Prevention Division had filed a B report over an allegation that Gnanasara Thera had allegedly made a hate speech tantamount to hurting the sentiments of the Muslim community during an event held at Polonnaruwa in 2017.
