Archbishop calls for the resignation of the President and the government

The Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, has called President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Government to resign immediately owing to their inability to resolve the present crisis.
“The biggest obstacle the Archbishop says is the Rajapaksa family clinging on to power despite a majority of the people in this country have lost any trust and faith in them,” he said in a statement issued.
Meanwhile, addressing the media today, the Archbishop said
“They have no moral right to continue in office anymore under these circumstances and should hand over power back to the people without causing further suffering to them,” he said
