Basil resigns and submits the letter to the Secretary-General of the House

Former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has submitted his resignation to the Secretary-General of Parliament today. Rajapaksa entered Parliament after the 20th amendment to the Constitution was enacted enabling dual citizens to enter Parliament.The resignation came in the wake of the 21st amendment being introduced repealing the provisions of the 20th amendment.The 20th amendment is one of the most short-lived amendments to the constitution.
