BASL condemns violence

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) today condemned the streak of violence which unleashed by a mob which came from the Temple Trees, the official residence of the former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The BASL urges the people not to resort to violence against any persons or not to destroy public property or private property of any individual.
In a statement, the BASL thanked its members who went to the scene of the protest at Galle Face to intervene to prevent violence.
Meanwhile, the BASL announced that it will take every possible step to ensure that people who unleashed violence at the Galle Face will be dealt with according to the law. The BASL appeals to the people to remain calm until then.
