President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), Saliya Pieris, PC, said those police officers who act on illegal orders should remember the fact that someday they will have to pay for their illegal activities.
Saliya Pieris on his Facebook page said he saw police officers who engaged in unlawful acts and violated the rights of people to satisfy their bosses having to pay for their misdeeds, some by way of compensation, and others even having to go to jail after being found guilty of criminal acts.
The BASL President warned that if that happened, their masters were nowhere around to protect them, and they had to face the music alone.
“The wheels of justice may grind slowly, but surely,” Peiris added.
