Bodies of disabled siblings found at home in Velanai

The bodies of a disabled brother and sister were found at their home in the Chettikulam area of Velanai, Jaffna, on November 7, Kayts Police said.

The siblings, who were reportedly living in difficult financial circumstances, had been sharing the house with another woman who was not disabled.

A few days earlier, the area’s Grama Niladhari had visited the house on official business and found only the brother and sister there.

Police were alerted after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from the property.

Officers who searched the premises found the man dead outside the house, while the woman’s body was found inside.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
