Cabinet discusses imposing a state of emergency.

The Cabinet, which met this evening, discussed many things, including declaring a state of emergency to bring the deteriorating situation under control. The Cabinet met to discuss the aftermath of the Hartal that brought the country to a standstill. It is the second Hartal held after 69 years in such a large magnitude. Thousands of Trade Unions participated in demonstrations throughout the country, with hundreds and thousands of people participating.
The Cabinet also explored the possibility of dissolving the Parliament
but no concrete decision was taken in this respect.
Meanwhile, the Prime minister's office rejected reports of the Prime Minister's possible resignation by Monday to pave the way for an all-party interim government.
