June 14, 2022

Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board M.CM Ferdinando has tendered his resignation following his statement involving the President at the COPE Committee meeting.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, soon after Ferdinando's statement, issued a rejoinder denying any involvement in exerting pressure on the CEB to award a tender to Adani's of India.
Ferdinando subsequently withdrew his statement and tendered his resignation.
Meanwhile, the opposition is to raise a privilege issue in Parliament for misleading the COPE.
