The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court issues a warrant of arrest for Pathum Kerner.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today issued a warrant for the arrest of Dr. Pathum Kerner, a social media activist who was charged in a case filed by the Colombo Crimes Division.

The arrest warrant was issued because he had failed to appear in court when the case was taken up for hearing this morning.

The Colombo Crimes Division filed this case against Dr. Pathum Kerner in connection with the violent incidents during a protest at Polduwa Junction. Pathum Kerner was a frontline member of the Galle Face Aragalaya that created changes in the political sphere.

When the case came up before Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala, the suspect, Pathum Kerner, was not present in court.

Pathum Kerner was arrested for committing offences coming under the Public Property Act during a violent protest held near Polduwa Junction on July 13.
