Former CWE chairman remanded

Former Sathosa Chairman and Attorney-at-law Wenura Gunawardene, arrested over a financial fraud that allegedly took place at the Sathosa, has been remanded till September 21 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.
The Criminal Investigations Department had arrested the former Sathosa Chairman over a three million rupee financial fraud that took place in 2018.
The CID submitted to the court that the suspect had received a bank remittance amounting to Rs.450,000 following this fraudulent transaction.
On being satisfied with the submissions made by CID, the Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered to remand the suspect till Wednesday (21).
