COLOMBO (News 1st) : Former Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena asked for forgiveness from the victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks.

Speaking to reporters in Colombo the Former President asked for forgiveness for such a tragedy taking place during his tenure, adding that he was unaware beforehand of the attacks.

“The ruling does not say that I have committed an offense, but that the President is also accountable for the offenses committed by the officers appointed by the President. That is my connection to the case,” he further explained.
