The government has decided to reduce the price of fuel from midnight today. Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said that the President had directed him to advance the date of reduction to avoid queues due to the reluctance of the petroleum dealers to place orders. Accordingly, petrol 92 will be reduced by rupees 60 and Lanka auto diesel will be reduced by 80 rupees. Kerosene will also be reduced by rupees 10 Petrol 95 is likely to cost the consumer Rs135 less than the current price and Super diesel be reduced by 45 rupees. The new rates will be effective from midnight today.
