The government is exploring the possibility of implementing the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on Easter Sunday Bomb attacks.
The government aims to bring former President Maithripala Sirisena to book for going off on a tangent attacking the government.
Last week the former President stepped up his campaign against the incumbent leaders of the government while addressing meetings in Matale and Anuradhapura.
Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has been critical of the government for not fully implementing the recommendations of the Easter Sunday Commission that found fault with the conduct of the then President and several others.
The President, at the opening of the new Kelaniya bridge,
said he could bring in special laws in parliament to deal with those responsible for the Easter attack if the people demand justice to be meted out expeditiously to the victims of the Easter Sunday attack.
Any step regarding the matter will drag the government to another political crisis.
