The prelates of the three main chapters including the Malwatte and Asgiriya Maha Vihara have told the President to refrain from implementing the 13amendment in its full.
The prelates handed over a memorandum to the President when he visited the Maha vihara this morning to pay homage to the Buddhist prelates.
They have told the President not to give in though there could be pressure from external forces to implement the 13A in exchange for their support to surmount the economic crisis.
They have pointed out that it would affect the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
