Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara announced this morning that there will be no power outages on December 24, 25, 26, 31, and January 1.
The Minister also clarified some media reports on power cuts and said that “there is no truth in reports claiming that there will be 10-hour-long power cuts next year due to the delay in the procurement of coal for the Norochcholai coal power plant.”
The Energy Minister said that, however, electricity tariffs will definitely be revised in January next year and a detailed report will be submitted at the first cabinet meeting on January 2, 2023.
