Opposition parties to form an all-party interim government
July 06, 2022

|
Opposition political parties yesterday decided to form an all-party interim government as an immediate solution to salvage the crisis-ridden country from the doldrums.
Parties including the Samagi Janbala Wegaya, the SLFP, several backbenchers of the government, and independent groups agreed on a workable programme to ease the burden on the people.
All parties agreed to appoint Lakshaman Kiriella as the convenor to muster the support of a majority of the members in Parliament.
They also resolved to introduce a modified 22nd amendment since the present 22nd amendment had failed to address the current issues in the country.
