The owner of the Thico Group remanded

The owner of Thico Group Private Limited, Thilini Priyamali, was yesterday ordered to be remanded till October 19 after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate’s court over allegedly misappropriating Rs.226 million, USD 60,000, and Australian $100,000 while operating a luxurious office at the World Trade Center in Colombo.
Producing the suspect before a court, the CID alleged that the suspect had befriended several businessmen running their business operations adjacent to her office. The CID said the suspect had obtained money from businessmen by promising high returns. The CID further alleged that the suspect is currently facing eight other court cases over similar incidents.
President's Counsel Maithri Gunaratne, appearing for an aggrieved party, informed the court that a well-known politician had also given money to invest in the suspect’s business. Taking into consideration the facts, Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered to remand the suspect till October 19.
