• SJB says NO.
  • Demands PM’s resignation.
  • Three protestors who suffered gunshot injuries lying in critical condition

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, having analysed the present political situation, has informed the President to consult Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and take a decision.

According to informed sources, the Prime Minister has apprised the President, the Chief Justice and the Attorney General about the steps to be taken in the current crisis. The Prime Minister has also called for a special meeting of party leaders today at 3:00. He has also informed the Speaker to summon Parliament immediately.

SJB leader Sajith Premadasa has refused to participate in the meeting.

His position is that the Prime Minister also should resign along with the President. Two SJB stalwarts who joined the protestors had to leave hurriedly because the organisers told them to leave the premises immediately.

Meanwhile, 39 people were injured in the melee, while three were lying in critical condition with gunshot injuries following a confrontation with the armed forces.
