President Gotabaya Rajapaksa left the Maldives on a Saudi air flight to Singapore and he is likely to move to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia shortly.
Hence it is likely that he would despatch his letter of resignation to the Speaker once he reaches Jeddah.
If he fails to do so the Speaker is exploring possibilities of taking up the position that the President has vacated his position as the President.
