President Gotabaya Rajapaksa told the new Cabinet that denying the right of the farmers to use chemical fertiliser was a mistake.
The President had pledged to supply the farmers with the necessary quantities of chemical fertiliser in the future.
The President has also told them that he should have sought the assistance of the IMF much earlier.
The President has also justified the public anger against the government for forcing them to languish in long queues to get their daily needs.
The President said he would give all the assistance to effect amendments to the constitution as suggested by party leaders to ensure a better life for the people.
He told the Ministers not to consider the new positions as privileges but as responsibilities and called upon the members of the Cabinet to execute their duties diligently.
The President also told the Ministers that he was expecting a clean administration devoid of corruption and malpractices.
