A public interest lawsuit filed seeking an order quashing the Cabinet decision approving the electricity tariff revision was today dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal’s two-judge bench, comprised of Justices Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola, decided to dismiss the petition in limine without formally issuing notices to the respondents.
The Electricity and Renewable Energy Association and the Centre for Environmental Justice had filed this writ petition, naming the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Attorney General as respondents.
