Sashi appeals against the order of the Magistrate and seeks bail.

Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader Wimal Weerawansa, has filed an appeal in the Colombo High Court through the Magistrate's Court registrar's office. Through this appeal, Ms Weerawansa is challenging the judgment of the Magistrate's Court to convict her over the diplomatic passport case.

After the conviction, on filing an appeal, the accused is entitled to seek bail and thereby, Shashi Weerawansa has sought bail from Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. The Magistrate will hear the bail application d on May 30.
