SLC pledges cooperation after reported arrest of Jaffna Kings owner

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), on Friday, said it is aware of media reports concerning the alleged arrest of the owner of the Jaffna Kings franchise by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports.
In a statement, SLC said it and the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 would fully cooperate with the SIU if investigators requested assistance in connection with the matter.
SLC, the governing body of the tournament, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the league’s integrity and said it would not tolerate corruption, misconduct or foul play by any stakeholder.
The cricket governing body said the LPL 2026 would begin as scheduled this evening at the SSC Grounds in Colombo and would proceed without interruption.
SLC said it had taken the necessary measures to ensure that the tournament met high ethical and integrity standards. Its Anti-Corruption Unit has also worked closely with the SIU to strengthen the league’s anti-corruption framework ahead of the tournament.
The governing body has engaged Integrity Mentors, an independent anti-corruption and sports integrity organisation, to provide specialist support and education throughout the competition.
SLC reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and unethical conduct, saying it would take all necessary steps to ensure that the tournament remained fair, transparent and credible.
