SLPP Parliamentarian elected Deputy Speaker

SLPP Parliamentarian Ajit Rajapaksa won the Deputy Speaker stakes in Parliament today. Rajapaksa polled 109 votes, while his rival Ms Rohini Kaviratne could only secure 78 votes. Ms Kaviratne was the SJB nominee for the position.
