Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene says he made a mistake in the interview with the BBC that the President has left the country.
The Speaker says he is still in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Secretariat said that the announcements of the President should reach the public only through the Speaker of the House.
