Two accused in Jeyaraj Fernandopulle's murder case were acquitted by the High Court.

The Gampaha High Court today ordered to acquit and release former Gampaha Superintendent of Police Lakshman Cooray and former LTTE cadre Selvarajah Piribahakaran alias Morris from the Jeyaraj Fernandopulle murder case.
The Gampaha High Court Judge, Sahan Yapa Bandara, ordered to acquit and release two accused from the case, observing that the prosecution has failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Attorney General had filed indictments against two accused for the murder of former Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and 15 others at Kanthi Grounds at Weliveriya on April 06, 2008.
The Attorney General further alleged that the accused had attempted to murder 84 others by deploying a suicide bomber for the commission of the offences.
