Widespread protests reported

People in their hundreds and thousands from the hinterlands protested against the unprecedented fuel price hike demanding the immediate reduction of the prices and restoring the status quo.
According to reports, people from Hingurakgoda, Baddegama, Digana, Avissawella, Gampola, Kandy Kegalle, Madampe, Matugama and many other areas protested against the government's decision to increase the fuel prices.
In Rambukkana, angry protesters blocked the railway mainline to Kandy and Badulla, placing logs on the rail tracks.
